Student Assessment and Evaluation
- We will use a variety of assessment methods, including exams, projects, and presentations, to evaluate student learning.
- One of the major assessment tools utilized to target academic or core performance in math, reading, language, and science is the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA).
- We will use data, from instruments like NWEA, to inform instruction and provide targeted support to students who are struggling or need an additional challenge.
- Students will be required to pass industry-certification exams in each CTE course (i.e., summative exams and final exams will be industry certs – which will be graded based on individual score reports from the certifying agency).
- We will provide students and parents with regular progress reports every 3 to 4 weeks with feedback on student academic and career development.
- We will utilize a culmination of industry-data and core performance indicators to determine placement in core/CTE courses.
- As far as program goals are concerned, students will be evaluated on a final performance piece in their designated program of choice. This rigorous evaluation will constitute a board of teachers, mentor, department chair, community members, and at least one governance board member. On a side note, none of these individuals may overlap (i.e., the department chair cannot act as the mentor, be on the board of teachers, be a community member, or on the governing board).
